Propaganda

Introduction

Propaganda is a method of advertising and promotion aimed at people to stop thinking for themselves and to believe in what is being told to them.Propaganda usually is used in times when government or person( dictators ) in a position of controlling the masses to ensure that they conform without descent to the ideals of the people in control. In times of war, propaganda is used to justify the conflict and to encourage people to join the army to fight the war.Do it for your country or do it for the good of your country. In times of economic crisis propaganda is used to get to believe that it is their duty to make sacrifices.

Lenin and flower
This picture says that only communism can bring peace to Russia.I think it is a very effective way of representing peace by Lenin holding a flower. If you notice, at the back of Lenin there is a hammer and sickle which represents the soviets system. Also the color read at the background makes Lenin looks more powerful.

Money Money Money

The propaganda gives the image of plenty. New shoes and piles of money give people hope that with hard work the rewards would be there for them. Even though the shops had very little to sell it was an encouragement that their lives will soon get better. New shoes on brand new box with lots of money is something we can all associate with.

Five year plan
The symbol of the number five in the background is for the five year plan initiated by Stalin. The hammer points to the sky and the flowers are a congratulation for success for the hard work, indicated by the hands, which will build the economy. A quality and well thought out poster which combines the communist symbols encouraging hard work to achieve success

Statesman

Stalin is looking very much like the statesman with a huge crowd of onlookers hanging off his every word. Of course you would believe such a respectable lookinggeneral. The symbolism of the red flag gives a stamp of authority and nationalism to the entire performance. Without disrespect it gives the impression of Stalin as a regal type person similar to our Beloved King of Thailand.

Stalin as a military profile
Stalin now appear in not such a military profile but more as a teacher who is looking at the achievements of the USSR. We have completed buildings in the babkground which appear to indicate success in rebuliding the nation. With so many things achieved naturally the future belongs to communism as it was communism which was responsible for their achievement

Stalin as a religious figure
Stalin is seen as a religious type figure and someone who you look up to. He appears god like in the sun and the steeple in the background assents his god-like qualities. The parliament building in the foreground indicates a justice and gives the thought of fairness to all the people in Russia. The symbolism of the Stalin as a god and savior ruling makes the people believe that Stalin in a great dictator.

The fact that the USSR remained a united country untill the early 1990s would indicate that the population was well sontrolled and that the use of propanganda in the forms of press, television and radio was very effective.Remembering that in 1917 there was a Russian Revolution, the people then, when unhappy with things, were able to take control of the country. However with Lenin and later in control the population was bombarded with enough propanganda and control to keep things under control for about 70 years.Eventually the Russian people realised the system which they were forced to live under was not what they wanted and a new democratic was born.
